Crafted by Yoshihei Kato, a certified Traditional Craftsman of Mino ware at Shosen gama (松泉窯) in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, this vibrant pottery showcases a breathtaking blooming peony motif.
The standout feature of Kato’s work lies in his signature technique: using a custom-made iron stylus (teppitsu) developed after years of trial and error, he hand-engraves each petal’s lines into the clay. The resulting lines are both delicate and dynamic. When layered with translucent glazes, the design comes alive with rich depth and dimension—resembling a fine miniature painting.
Delicate yet deeply expressive, this versatile dish seamlessly combines exquisite artistic beauty with daily practical utility.
Dimensions: Diameter 9.6x5.9 inches (24.5x15.0 cm) / Height 1.0 inches (2.5 cm) /Weight 10.6 oz (300 g)
Care Instructions: Hand wash recommended with warm water and a soft sponge. Not recommended for microwave or dishwasher use to protect the fine glaze finish.
Note: Because every line is individually hand-engraved and glazed, subtle variations in color, line thickness, and glaze density naturally occur, making each dish a unique work of art.
