Akatsu ware is a traditional pottery style originating from Akatsu Town in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, recognized as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. The Rokubei Pottery Studio, a historic kiln known for producing Akatsu ware, was founded in 1742. Today, it is led by Daigo Kato, the studio’s 27th-generation master craftsman.

Shino is Japan’s earliest white ceramic from Mino Province, used mainly for tea ceremonies. It features a thick glaze that can shrink during firing, creating unique textures like yuzu-hada (dotted surface) and kairagi (wrinkled edges). Variations include painted Eshino, gray Nezumi Shino, and red Aka Shino, each with distinct iron decorations.

*Prior to use, immerse the item in boiling water to fully saturate the fabric with moisture, which helps minimize staining and discoloration.

*After use, immediately remove any residue, wash with dish soap, rinse thoroughly, and ensure the piece is completely dry before storing.

*Since ceramic is porous, leaving it soaking in water can cause absorption of dirty water, leading to mold and stains.
